KFC Zinger Burger Fakeaway

This one is truly a masterpiece...

If you like KFC and are a fan of the Zinger Burger, I am not lying when I say this tastes like the real deal, minus the guilt!

When I first saw this recipe on @veryhungrygreek on Instagram, I was skepitcal but I can honestly say this instantly became a favourite for me for whenever I am in the mood for a treat, but don't feel like doing an extra workout in the gym afterwards!

A standard zinger burger meal in KFC will set you back an impressive 1054 calories, but this recipe I am sharing with you is just 513 calories - yes you read that right! This also includes your chips and world renowned KFC gravy. There really is NO reason you shouldn't be making your KFC right at home in your very own kitchen.

INGREDIENTS (makes 2)

  • 2 chicken breasts (sliced horizontally through the middle to make 4 pieces)
  • 30g Chilli Heatwave Doritos (crushed into crumbs)
  • 2x Brioche burger buns (or your preference of roll)
  • 1x egg (whisked)
  • 1x large potato (cut into chips)
  • Iceberg lettuce (sliced)
  • 2x Light cheese singles (optional)
  • 2 tspn Bisto gravy granules
  • 1 tbsp Paprika & 1 tbsp Garlic granules
  • Salt and pepper
  • Frylight
  • Spicy Mayo (optional)
METHOD
  1. Pre-heat oven to 190C.
  2. Place the chips on a lined baking tray with 1/2 tspn of each of the above seasoning, salt and pepper. Spray with Frylight and leave aside.
  3. Dip each piece of chicken into the whisked egg, add the remaining seasoning to the Dorito Crumbs, stir well, and then coat the chicken in it.
  4. Place on lined baking tray, sprayed with a generous amount of Frylight.
  5. Cook on 190C for 30-35 minutes along with the chips, turning half way.
  6. Add the sliced cheese 1 minute before it is ready to allow it to melt.
  7. Assemble the mayo and lettuce onto the roll, add the chicken, prepare the gravy and ENJOY!
Here's mine...

At only 513 calories all in, there really is no question as to why this Fakeaway trumps the real thing every time! It's the same amazing Zinger-y taste with none of the guilt! It's quick, simple and cheap to make to feed yourself or even impress your family, partner, flatmates, whoever it may be!

If you're going to try any recipe at home - this is the one for you! Why pay over £5 for the greasy, calorific KFC version, when this can be made at home for HALF the calories and HALF the price?
